The Unexpected Arrival of Nova: A Fluffy Beginning

They said a dog would bring structure. They weren’t wrong—but what they didn’t mention was how much joy, chaos, and character one little Huskamute could pack into a home.

Nova was born in Malvern in December 2015, a bundle of fur destined for adventure. His arrival in January 2016 wasn't exactly meticulously planned—at least not from one side of the equation. The idea of a dog had been floating around for a while, often prompted by well-meaning family members (“It’ll give you structure,” they’d say), but when the deposit was paid as a birthday surprise by a then-partner, the idea turned tangible fast.

There was just one small complication: Mum.

Living under her roof at the time, the prospect of a new four-legged housemate was something best revealed… tactically. So it wasn’t until the day of pickup that the plan was fully unveiled. “I’m off to get a dog,” came the announcement. The response? A pause, followed by swift action. By the time Nova padded his tiny paws into the house, he was greeted with a freshly bought dog bed, a soft rug, and toys—Mum’s quiet way of saying, Well then, let’s get on with it.

Nova, still small enough to nap comfortably across a pair of feet, settled in like he’d always belonged. And once his vaccinations were sorted, weekend trips to visit his honorary big brother Nemo—a full-blooded husky owned by the partner—quickly became a cherished routine. Together, they were mismatched in size but perfectly paired in spirit: two snow-loving souls ready to wreak gentle havoc.

That was only the beginning.
